Check the Minneapolis Star Tribune for an article that they are doing about kidney failure.
Mel is featured in the article.
Helping Melissa Freiberg Larson find a kidney donor. She has been on dialysis for over 5 years now. She received a kidney from her brother 16 years ago and is in need of another kidney transplant now. Melissa has had over 350 possible donors step forward and be tested with no match yet. I encourage you to get tested as a donor, if not for Melissa, the for someone else. Check donor on your drivers license. Please...

I read your article in the Star Trib. Good luck on your journey. I am someone who has a kidney disease, but my kidney's haven't failed yet. I have a few years to go. Unfortunately, I'm not eligble for transplant, so I'll live on dialysis once they fail. Do you have any advice for me about your dialysis at home?

Hi! How does someone check to see if they are a match for you and insure that it would go to you?? What steps does a person take to get checked for compatiability?
Melissa,
I am a dialysis technician in Minneapolis and have been reading the articles in the Star Tribune. As a dialysis tech, I see the struggles patients go through every day and wish everyone of you could get a kidney. I wish I was able to donate but due to high blood pressure, that will never be a possibility. I am happy that I am able to help take care of so many wonderful people. I hope you get a kidney SOON! You are in my thoughts.

Melissa,
My cousin's little boy received his second kidney transplant May, 2008 and is doing fabulous! He too had built up antibodies and a very small percentage of the population was compatible. You should post the name and phone number of your transplant coordinator or the Living Donor hotline so people know who to contact. After being tested for my cousin's son, it is a very simple and painless test.
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers - I hope I am able to help you!
It's funny how politicians think the only problem we have is lack of insurance coverage. We never hear a thing about programs that actually will save your life.. as long as it saves tax money for the
clowns in power.
I know, as person living on one kidney that a day may come when I am in your shoes. I trust keeping this issue in the "lime light" will get the public's interest and thus the "best insured people" namely government employees will understand our plight.
Keep your chin up.

I love you Sistah! You are a beautiful; strong and wonderful friend. I am truly feel blessed that god has given us our friendship; I knew from that day in class that I was immediately drawn to you. Your "can do" attitude and your infectious laugh & smile. I couldn't ask for anything more! You are our Harley Diva!

My name is Trevor Olson, I am 25 years of age and to this point in my life i i have found that I have let myself down. I have always wanted to help people as much as possible, almost joining the peace corps after high school, and it goes on. My blood type is type O negative, and it would make me just as happy to give a kidney as it would to save the life of a loving human being whom has a family. I have a daughter and i could not even think how horrible the fight must be. If I were to give my kidney to save a life i would need to know and learn about her more. I would never give an organ to someone i cant even see or talk to. My main concern is her children, and to top it off, being that sick and still putting up flyers (I was there when she hung one at snyders Drug in monticello about 8 mos ago. I have this feeling inside of me that i feel it is my responsibility to help this woman. I am 90% sure I would go through with the process. If you need a kidney get a hold of me i gave my myspace page if anyone needs to get a hold of me, it hasn't been changed in a couple years, but thats me. I really hope you will contact me.
Keep on keeping on
~Trevor Olson
